Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy

The International Journal of Didactical Studies (IJODS) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its published scholarly content.

1. External Digital Preservation

IJODS uses the Internet Archive as an independent external digital preservation service for its published scholarly content.

The journal’s published full-text articles and associated scholarly content currently available in its archive have been deposited in the Internet Archive. Newly published content will continue to be deposited as part of the journal’s regular publishing and preservation workflow.

The journal’s preserved content can be accessed through the IJODS Internet Archive Repository.

The Internet Archive provides an external preservation layer independent of IJODS’s primary website and publishing platform. This arrangement supports the continued accessibility of the scholarly record in the event of technical failure, platform migration, discontinuation of the journal website, or cessation of publication.

2. Operational Backups

In addition to external digital preservation, IJODS maintains operational copies and backups of published content and associated metadata within its publishing infrastructure.

These operational backups support routine website maintenance, data recovery, platform continuity, and restoration in the event of technical problems. They complement, but do not replace, the journal’s independent external preservation arrangements.

3. Persistent Identification

IJODS assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to published articles to support persistent identification, citation, discovery, and linking to the Version of Record.

DOIs provide persistent identification and linking but do not replace independent digital preservation. Long-term preservation is therefore maintained separately through the journal’s external archiving arrangements.

4. Continuity of the Scholarly Record

If IJODS ceases publication or its primary website or publishing platform becomes unavailable, content preserved through its external digital preservation arrangements is intended to remain publicly accessible through the relevant preservation service.

Corrections, retractions, Expressions of Concern, and other post-publication notices form part of the scholarly record and will be preserved where applicable together with the associated published content.

5. Author Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit the Submitted Version (Preprint), Author Accepted Manuscript, and published Version of Record in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal academic websites, or other appropriate scholarly repositories without embargo, in accordance with the journal’s Open Access Policy.

When the Version of Record is deposited or shared, authors should provide the complete bibliographic citation and DOI or permanent link to the article published by IJODS.

6. Review of Preservation Arrangements

IJODS periodically reviews its digital preservation arrangements and may adopt additional recognized preservation services where appropriate to further strengthen the long-term accessibility and integrity of its scholarly record.
