Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy

The International Journal of Didactical Studies (IJODS) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its published scholarly content.

Digital Preservation

IJODS has established an account with the Internet Archive as an independent external digital preservation service and is implementing the progressive deposit of its published scholarly content.

Published articles and associated journal content are being progressively deposited in the Internet Archive to support long-term preservation and continued public accessibility. The journal intends to maintain this deposit process as part of its regular publishing and preservation workflow.

The Internet Archive serves as an external preservation mechanism independent of the journal’s primary website and publishing platform. This arrangement is intended to help preserve access to the scholarly record in the event of technical failure, platform migration, discontinuation of the journal website, or cessation of publication.

Operational Backups

In addition to external digital preservation, IJODS maintains copies of published content and associated metadata within its publishing infrastructure and operational backup systems.

These operational backups support routine website maintenance, data recovery, platform continuity, and restoration in the event of technical problems. They complement, but do not replace, the journal’s independent long-term preservation arrangements.

Persistent Identification and Access

IJODS assigns a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to published articles to support persistent identification, citation, discovery, and linking.

DOIs provide persistent identifiers for published content but are not considered a substitute for independent digital preservation. Long-term preservation is therefore supported separately through the journal’s external archiving arrangements.

Continuity of the Scholarly Record

If IJODS ceases publication or its primary website becomes unavailable, content preserved through independent archiving arrangements is intended to remain accessible through the relevant preservation service.

IJODS periodically reviews its preservation arrangements and may adopt additional recognized digital preservation services where appropriate to strengthen the long-term accessibility and integrity of the journal’s scholarly record.
