Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Didactical Studies (IJODS) invites original scholarly manuscripts that contribute to research on didactics and teaching–learning processes across diverse educational contexts.

Manuscripts submitted to IJODS must align with the journal’s aims and scope. Submissions that fall outside the scope of the journal may be declined following initial editorial screening.

1. Types of Manuscripts

IJODS publishes the following types of scholarly contributions:

  • Original empirical research (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods)

  • Conceptual and theoretical studies

  • Systematic and critical review articles

  • Methodological papers related to educational research

  • Short scholarly discussions relevant to didactical studies

2. Submission Process

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system. Submissions should be complete, original, and prepared in accordance with the journal’s formatting and ethical requirements.

3. Peer Review Process

IJODS employs a double-blind peer-review process. All submissions are initially evaluated by the editorial team for relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, academic quality, and ethical compliance.

Manuscripts that pass this initial screening are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the field of didactical studies.

4. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to IJODS are required to adhere to the journal’s Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration elsewhere

  • All sources are properly cited and no form of plagiarism or self-plagiarism is present

  • All listed authors have made a significant scholarly contribution and approve the final version

  • Any conflicts of interest are fully disclosed

  • Necessary ethical approvals, permissions, or informed consent have been obtained where applicable

Authors may use artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted tools for limited purposes such as language editing, provided that such use is transparently disclosed. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of all submitted content. Detailed guidance on acceptable AI use is provided in the journal’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy.

All authors share collective responsibility for the content of the submitted and published work.

5. Open Access and Publication Fees

IJODS is a fully Gold Open Access journal. All published content is made freely and permanently accessible to readers immediately upon publication, without subscription fees or access restrictions.

To support the administrative and technical operation of the editorial workflow, peer-review infrastructure, website maintenance, and long-term accessibility of published content, IJODS applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 100. The APC is requested only after a manuscript has successfully completed the peer-review process and has been formally accepted for publication.

The payment of the APC has no influence on the peer-review process, editorial evaluation, or publication decision. Editorial decisions are based solely on the academic quality, originality, and relevance of the submitted work.

Information regarding APC waivers and eligibility criteria is provided on the journal’s APC page.

6. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their work published in the International Journal of Didactical Studies (IJODS).

All articles published in IJODS are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits unrestricted use, sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction in any medium or format, provided that the original work is properly cited and the source is acknowledged.

The applicable copyright and licensing information is clearly indicated on all published articles, including both HTML versions and PDF files.

Authors are permitted to deposit the final published version of their articles in institutional or subject-based repositories, personal websites, or other platforms without embargo, provided that proper citation to the published article in IJODS is given and the Creative Commons license is clearly indicated.
